NSW Workshop - Putting the pieces together
9:30am - 4:30pm, Tue 08-06-10
Location: Vibe Hotel, 111 Goulburn Street, Sydney
Putting the pieces together: Making sense of the information collected by mental health services for the purpose of quality improvement and service development
The aim of this workshop is to provide NSW’s mental health managers/team leaders involved in the State and/or National benchmarking projects with an opportunity to learn more about the information being collected by mental health services. The focus will be on understanding how the information collected can be used to improve clinical practice and service delivery, as well as understand organisational performance. Examples of how mental health information has been used will be discussed and participants will have an opportunity to explore the use of mental health information for their own quality improvement and service development purposes.
During this workshop participants will explore:
From contacts to outcomes: what information is being collected and why?
Understanding the role and use of electronic systems’ Standard Reports, along with other information sources such as the NOCC WDST and CIBRE
Understanding service variation: how can one tell if it is real or imagined?
Information and quality improvement: you can’t have the latter without the former
The use of information to inform staff development, manage workloads, distribute resources and support clinical and corporate governance.
