NT Workshop - Routine outcome measures in mental health: sensitivity in rating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers
10:00am - 3:00pm, Tue 01-06-10
Location: Holiday Inn, 116 The Esplanade, Darwin NT
The implementation of the National Mental Health Outcomes and Casemix Collection has seen a range of standard outcome measures and casemix collection information introduced into routine clinical practice.
This workshop provides an opportunity for mental health professionals to access training in outcome measures with a particular focus on using the measures with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers.
The workshop will include:
- The Australian context and routine outcome measurement. Why here and why now?
- Routine outcome measurement and Aboriginal consumers, considerations and cautions.
- Skill development in the use of the measures.
- The opportunity to be involved in the development of culturally appropriate training materials.
Principles for rating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers have been developed in North Queensland. This workshop will involve discussion and exploration of these principles and their use in practice. Participants are expected to bring to the workshop a real life example of a consumer they are working with (by completing a proforma that will be sent out to registrants).
